The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is organizing 14th All Pakistan HEC Intervarsity Women Cricket Championship from March 22-26, 2019 at Shalimar Cricket Ground, Islamabad. As many as 22 universities are participating in this Championship. The opening ceremony of the event will be held at Shalimar Cricket Ground on Friday.
The ceremony will be attended by Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr Fehmida Mirza, HEC/Pakistan University Sports Board Chairman Dr Tariq Banuri, HEC Executive Director Lt. Gen (R) Muhammad Asghar and Islamabad’s Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz. Shahid Aslam, former test cricketer who is currently working as the senior general manager for women cricket board and other national stars will also join the ceremony as ‘Guests of Honour’.
Meanwhile, the meeting of team managers will be held on Thursday (today) at Pakistan Youth Hostel, Islamabad for orientation of game rules as per international standards by technical officials of PCB, checking of documents to determine eligibility of student players as per HEC/PUSB Intervarsity Championship rules and to make draws of the Championship.
It is worth-mentioning here that alongside various other initiatives for development of higher education sector in the country, HEC is also focusing to create opportunities for mental and physical development of university students. Every year, HEC organizes 35 Men and 25 Women sports championships in HEC recognized universities across Pakistan.
