IBA Karachi Hosts Curtain Raiser for Executive MBA Program

The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi proudly organized the curtain raiser for its newly restructured Executive MBA (EMBA) Program, titled Learn to Build a Sustainable World. The event was hosted by the School of Business Studies (SBS) and featured insights from distinguished academic leaders, faculty members, and alumni.

Dr S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director of IBA Karachi, emphasized the strategic transformation of the EMBA program, highlighting the institute’s evolution from a traditional business school to a multidisciplinary center of higher learning. He reaffirmed that while the MBA and Executive MBA programs remain the institute’s flagship offerings, IBA is diversifying its academic portfolio with programs like the BS in Business Analytics.

Speaking at the event, Dr Abdullah Zafar Sheikh, Dean of SBS, introduced the unique structure of the EMBA, which is based entirely on block teaching modules. This format provides students with flexibility and facilitates engagement with international faculty, who will travel from their respective institutions to teach at IBA Karachi.

Further insights were shared by Dr Muhammad Shafique, Program Director of MBA & Executive MBA Programs; Dr Azam Ali, Assistant Professor at SBS and Faculty Lead for the Stanford-IBA Collaboration; and Mr. Junaid Aziz, Co-Founder of Designing Your Life, Stanford Life Design Lab IBA. They discussed the impact of the revamped EMBA curriculum on business leadership in Pakistan and the global economy.

The event was also attended by IBA-EMBA alumni, who reflected on their learning experiences and the evolving business landscape in the country. Their testimonials highlighted the program’s role in shaping industry leaders and fostering professional growth.

IBA Karachi is now accepting applications for its Executive MBA program for Fall 2025. This Level-7 graduate program is designed to develop leadership capabilities among executives in both the private and public sectors. The program spans 22 months and follows an Immersive Block Model (IBM) with alternate weekend sessions. It offers a multidisciplinary curriculum, enhanced by corporate mentorship and an international immersion program in Silicon Valley.

A key highlight of the EMBA experience is its collaboration with the Stanford Life Design Lab, which equips professionals with innovative skills to drive sustainable growth and enhance global competitiveness. With this initiative, IBA Karachi continues to play a vital role in advancing executive education and business leadership in Pakistan.
