The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi held an inaugural ceremony for its newly developed net practice cricket pitches at the IBA Cricket Ground, Main Campus. The event marked a significant step in enhancing sports facilities at the institution and was attended by renowned cricketer and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Selection Committee member, Mr Asad Shafiq, who officially inaugurated the facility.
During the ceremony, Mr Shafiq interacted with the IBA student cricket team, playing a few deliveries and sharing his professional insights. As a symbolic gesture of growth and sustainability, he also planted a tree, emphasizing the importance of nurturing both sports talent and the environment.
The event saw the presence of key IBA officials, including Dr Mohammad Asad Ilyas, IBA Registrar; Mr Fuad A Mehdi, Head of Marketing & Communications; Mr Fahad Jawed, Associate Registrar of Resource Optimization; and Mr Jamsheed Issa, Manager Sports. Their participation highlighted IBA’s commitment to fostering a strong sports culture alongside academic excellence.
As a token of appreciation, Mr Shafiq was presented with a souvenir to acknowledge his contribution. The gathering also sparked discussions on the future of sports at IBA, with an emphasis on strengthening sports infrastructure and increasing student participation in competitive cricket. Additionally, conversations revolved around potential collaborations with PCB to provide professional training and exposure for aspiring cricketers at IBA.
