IBA Karachi holds groundbreaking ceremony for solar project

KARACHI: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi held the groundbreaking ceremony of the IBA Solar Project at the Main Campus in Karachi with the aim to play its part in protecting the environment and reduce carbon.

The IBA Karachi solar project will have an output capacity of 802 kilowatt of renewable energy.

The groundbreaking was held by the Executive Director, IBA Karachi Dr. S Akbar Zaidi and CEO, SOLIS, Farman Ahmed Lodhi and attended by the IBA Registrar, Dr. Asad Ilyas and representatives from both the organizations.

Naeemul Haq, Sr. Manager Projects, IBA, gave the audience a brief on the project.

He said that contract of the project has been awarded to SOLIS Energy and will be completed in two phases with total estimated cost of the first phase is Rs. 75 million and is expected to be completed in a year.

The IBA plans to extend the project to the Boys and Girls Hostel in the second phase of the project and expressed its resolve to also launch a similar project at the City Campus.

Speaking about the significance of the project, Dr. Zaidi said, “This is one of the many steps that we will need to take, and this is the beginning for that.”
