The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi successfully hosted the “Winter Immersion Program 2024” (WIP 2024) from December 16-19, 2024, at its City Campus. Organized in collaboration with the IBA Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (IBA-CED), the event aimed to redefine entrepreneurship education, research, and incubation management in academia through the insights of renowned international trainers.

The program commenced with a keynote address by Dr S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director, IBA Karachi. Highlighting the evolving nature of entrepreneurship, Dr Zaidi emphasized the importance of revising academic curricula to meet contemporary business challenges. “Workshops like this inspire participants to think creatively and adapt to changing business trends,” he remarked.

The four-day event featured two highly interactive workshops led by international experts:

Fostering Entrepreneurship in Academia
Led by Dr Sanna Ilonen, University Teacher, and Mr Joachim Ramstrom, Education Expert on Entrepreneurship & Innovation Education from the University of Turku, Finland, this workshop focused on equipping university faculty, incubation center staff, and media professionals with tools to design and deliver engaging entrepreneurship programs.
Elevating Innovators and Incubators
Conducted by Islam Mohamed, Chief Investment Officer at Arweqah Al Reyadah, Saudi Arabia, this workshop delved into managing university-based business incubators and fostering innovation ecosystems.

Dr Lalarukh Ejaz, Director of IBA-CED, concluded the program with her closing remarks. She expressed gratitude to the speakers and participants, emphasizing the significance of collaborative platforms like WIP 2024 in enhancing knowledge exchange and fostering innovation. “Universities and incubators must prioritize such activities to encourage structured discourse and growth,” she stated.

The program’s immersive format, combining lectures, discussions, and case studies, provided a transformative learning experience for all attendees.
