ICCBS inks MOU with SAWiE to develop sustainable agriculture solutions

The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences Karachi University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sustainable Agriculture Water and Intelligent Environment Systems Lahore to develop sustainable agriculture solutions.

The ICCBS Spokesman said on Friday that the international center had signed a landmarked MOU with SAWiE Systems to develop sustainable agriculture solutions, supporting smallholder farmers through knowledge-based farm advisory.

The MOU was signed in an online meeting. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator-General, and SAWiE Systems Director Ms. Nosheen Ramzan signed the MoU on behalf of their institutions.

According to the MOU, both institutions shall cooperate in science and technology in the fields of agriculture, environment, water and natural resources. The ICCBS and SAWiE have agreed to own collaborations involving both the institutions to develop space applications for promoting sustainable solutions for agriculture and environment by saving water, reducing nutrients losses, appropriate application of fertilizer, develop early warning system for droughts, pests and disease attacks.

As per the MOU, this Memorandum of Understanding will be effective for a period of five years, and may be renewed for the same period, or may be extended for a shorter period, upon mutual consent of both Parties
