The ‘Hunermand Jawan’ program will be the largest ever skill development program launched in Pakistan
Prime Minister Imran Khan is to launch the Hunermand Jawan program today (Thursday), the country’s largest ever skill development program aimed at the youth of Pakistan.
The project’s goals include imparting quality professional training to the youth to enable them to become more job ready. The program would be implemented over the next four years at a cost of Rs 30 billion. It would facilitate youth through easy loans, professional capacity-building, start-ups and internships.
Chairing a pre-launch meeting of ‘Hunermand Jawan’, the prime minister termed youth an asset of the nation. He said the program would help youth get better job opportunities and contribute to national development.
Per the details, around 170,000 youth will be given professional skill-based training in the first phase, of which 50,000 will be trained in areas of artificial intelligence, robotics, cloud computing and other advanced areas of technology.
Similarly, 50,000 youth will be given training at Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority in conventional areas including auto-mechanics, plumbing etc, whereas 20,000 youth will be given apprenticeship.
Besides, around 75 smart class rooms will be set up to ensure easy access to skill and professional education besides provision of such training at 70 Madarassas.
The government also plans to establish five Centers of Excellence under the program in collaboration with friendly countries.
