Indian students are turning to London for higher studies, as there number has jumped by 20 percent in the academic year 2017-18, according to a recent report by the financial express. Moreover, India succeeded in holding to its position of the fasting growing international student market for London, per the findings published by Study London, the official university guide for higher education institutes in London
According to the statistics released by Study London, London has emerged as the most popular study destination for international students, particularly Indian students. It succeeded in attracting almost 5,455 students in the year 2017-18 from India, who are studying different degree programmes at leading universities.
Per the findings of the report, London accommodates the highest number of international students from China with almost 21,350 students pursuing higher education in the city. US stands tall on the second spot with 7,105 students, Italy third with 5,770 students and India fourth with 5,455 students. China also witnessed a 20 percent hike in their student body figures, as noted by the mayor of London’s official university guide.
“These new statistics show that London is as big a draw as ever for the brightest young talent from around the world. I’m delighted to see so many students choosing our city as their destination of choice to learn and to discover all the benefits of a first-class education,” said Rajesh Agrawal, London’s Deputy Mayor for Business.
“London has more world-leading universities than any other city on the planet, and a buzzing cultural landscape which attracts international students from more than 200 countries. This is yet more evidence that London is open,” he added.
According to the latest statistics by Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), based in the UK, almost 118,145 international students turned to London for higher studies in 2017-18, which is an increase of almost 5.6 percent in comparison to 2016-17.
