A high-level delegation of Indonesian education experts visited the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) at Arfa Karim Tower. The delegation was welcomed by Prof Dr Shahid Munir (T.I), Chairperson of the PHEC, who provided an overview of the commission’s initiatives aimed at enhancing higher education in Punjab.
During the meeting, the delegation engaged in discussions about educational exchange programs between Indonesia and Pakistan, expressing a keen interest in fostering stronger academic ties. Prof. Dr. Munir highlighted various initiatives undertaken by PHEC to promote higher education and facilitate academic collaboration on an international scale.
One of the key points of discussion was the satisfaction of Indonesian students currently studying at Pakistani universities. The delegation noted the positive feedback regarding the quality of education and the supportive academic environment in Pakistan. This exchange of positive experiences underscored the potential for further collaboration.
The Indonesian delegation, comprising Mr. Rahmat Handiarta, Acting Ambassador/Counselor at the Indonesian Embassy, Akselsya Mirza, Raden Mohammad Ibrahim, Rhanol Edrodo, Qurra’tul Ain Rafi Afnan, and Haseeb Khan, expressed their eagerness to explore more opportunities for educational exchanges. They emphasized the importance of the mutual exchange of experts and scholars between Indonesia and the PHEC to enhance academic and research capabilities.
On the Pakistani side, the meeting was attended by several key officials, including Dr. Mansoor Baloch, Chief Operating Officer of PHEC, Dr. Tanveer Qasim, Director of Coordination at PHEC, Dr. Mumtaz Hussain, Director of Accreditation at PHEC, and Mr. Nouman Maqbool Rao.
Both sides acknowledged the potential benefits of increased cooperation, including the exchange of academic expertise, joint research projects, and enhanced cultural understanding. The meeting concluded with a commitment to furthering these discussions and formalizing agreements to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and resources.
This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening educational ties between Indonesia and Pakistan, promising to open new avenues for collaboration and mutual growth in the higher education sector.
