Iqra University – Institute for Global Cooperation and Outreach and Goethe-Institut Pakistan signed an MoU to introduce German Language Courses on Tuesday at Iqra University-Main Campus.
Director Goethe-Institute, Simone Lenz, and Head of Language Department, Irfan Samad Khan, attended the MoU Signing Ceremony held at the conference hall in Iqra University EDC Campus. As per the memorandum, both parties will collaborate to develop a specially-designed German Language Course for students called “Fit for Germany.”
The Goethe-Institut is a cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. The Institute promotes the learning of the German language abroad and encourages cultural exchange. In Pakistan, the Institute is represented by the Goethe-Institut in Karachi.
Dr Wasim Qazi, Vice-Chancellor of Iqra University, said that the language course would be a stepping stone for graduate and undergraduate students of Iqra University. They want to pursue further education abroad.
“Learning a foreign language will open many doors for students. The German language course is an excellent opportunity for students to obtain employment prospects worldwide. Incorporating a language course into their degree will enable students to set themselves ahead of the rest when they apply for jobs locally as well as internationally,” said Dr Wasim Qazi.
Dr Fatima Dar, Director IU-IGCO, stated that IU-IGCO aims to achieve excellence in education through academic networking at national and international scales to seek mutual growth and development opportunities.
“The purpose of introducing German language course as part of our curriculum is to broaden the educational horizon for our students. IU-IGCO intends to prepare students for leadership roles in international organizations in areas like consulting, non-profit management, business and industry, education, and foreign service,” said Dr Fatima Dar.
