Iqra University signs Institutional Membership with the globally renowned Advance HE, UK

Iqra University becomes the first private sector university exclusively located in Pakistan to enter institutional membership with Advance HE, UK.

This partnership enables Iqra University to enhance the professional capacity of its multidisciplinary, Ph.D. faculty through the UK Fellowships as benchmarked by the world-recognized UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).

The Advance HE is a globally recognized organization that offers systemic mechanisms to improve the Higher Education experience through accreditation and professional recognition of Higher Education programmes and instructional practices. Such mechanisms include the Fellowships that are benchmarked against the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).  Advance HE holds the UKPSF as the only framework in the world dedicated to supporting the development of teaching faculty in higher education.

The signing ceremony to mark institutional membership with Advance HE was chaired by Iqra University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Wasim Qazi and Mr. Ian Hall, Head of International Partnerships at Advance HE along with Dr. Fariha Hayat Salman, Associate Professor and Director, Center for Teaching Excellence & Learning Innovation (CTELI). Dr. Fariha signed the institutional membership contract on behalf of Iqra University Pakistan.

Present at the ceremony were the senior management of the university from across the campuses including Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Arif, Director Academics, Dr. Kamran Raza, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Sciences & Technology, Dr. Athar Iqbal, Controller Examination , Dr. Mirza A. Haq, University Registrar, and Dr. Mansoor Ebrahim, Head of Department, Software Engineering and Computer Sciences.

In her statement, Dr. Fariha expressed her immense delight in CTELI’s role in establishing this partnership, calling it ‘a momentous occasion for both the institutions. While Iqra University embarks upon faculty capacity building through the highly coveted UK fellowships, the Advance HE is enabled to extend its expertise to the higher education institutions in Pakistan.’

Ian Hall as the Head of International Partnerships expressed his ‘absolute pleasure to welcome Iqra University as an institutional member of Advance HE, UK.’ He highlighted the fact that ‘by becoming an institutional member, Iqra University has joined the distinctive league of over 400 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) including Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, and Edinburgh in the UK and only 19 distinctive institutions worldwide.’

The Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Wasim Qazi congratulated all faculty and staff associated with Iqra University on becoming the first multidisciplinary, private university exclusively located in Pakistan to enter this partnership.

Dr. Qazi emphasized that “as a top-ranked and influential university in Pakistan, we recognize that our work is truly about training the leaders, thinkers, and innovators of the future. This is a huge responsibility that demands relevant, agile, and continuous faculty professional development for which we are greatly pleased to enter institutional membership with Advance HE, UK.”

The signing ceremony concluded with Dr. Qazi’s announcement of the institutional strategy to support all the faculty at Iqra University in pursuing the UK Fellowships through which they will be recognized with professional titles of Associate Fellows, Fellows, and Senior Fellows.
