Iqra University is set to host a three-day book fair, IU Book Fair 2021, from 18th to 20th November at its main campus in Karachi. The University organizes the IU Book Fair annually, where various booksellers from across Pakistan participate and showcase their collection. This year, around twenty-five renowned booksellers from all over Pakistan will be a part of the IU Book Fair 2021.

Dr Wasim Qazi, the Vice-Chancellor and President of Iqra University, will inaugurate the book fair on Thursday, 18th November 2021. The booksellers will display local and international publications of different genres and languages relevant to the University curriculum at their stalls.

Dr Wasim Qazi highlighted the University ideology and the meaning of “Iqra”, stating that the University was established to make knowledge accessible to everyone.

“The word “Iqra” means “to read”, and it is the first word of the Holy Quran; hence spreading knowledge and encouraging learning is always at the heart of what we do. We strive to encourage students to learn new things apart from what’s being taught in the curriculum, and IU Book Fair helps us do just that. I hope that our students and faculty members’ recommendations help us add some great new titles to our University library,” said Dr Wasim Qazi.

Iqra University houses more than eighty thousand books that cover many subjects, professions, and general reading material in its Information Resource Centre. Latest textbooks and reference publications are continuously added to the IRC collection, including an up-to-date record of Government publications relevant to the curriculum. The IRC serves as one of the best sources of secondary data for educational purposes.
