A high-level delegation from various Iranian universities visited Punjab University (PU) to strengthen academic and cultural ties between the two nations. The delegation, led by Dr Seyyed Abolhasan Navvab, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Iran’s University of Religions and Denominations, was warmly received by Punjab University’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr Khalid Mahmood.

In a meeting attended by deans of various faculties and heads of departments at Punjab University, Dr Navvab emphasized the importance of fostering robust relationships with Pakistani universities. He highlighted the Iranian government’s commitment to developing excellent relations with Pakistan, expressing regret that these ties were not stronger in the past.
Dr Navvab remarked on the global presence of Pakistanis and expressed a desire to see more Pakistani students in Iranian universities. He noted that thousands of foreign students are currently studying in Iran and that efforts are being made to increase the number of Pakistani students through academic dialogue and dedicated centers at Iranian universities.
Dr Khalid Mahmood, addressing the ceremony, shared that agreements have been made with Iranian universities to enhance cooperation. He praised Dr Navvab for his significant role in promoting relations between Pakistan and Iran and expressed eagerness to collaborate in research fields.
During their visit, the Iranian delegation toured various departments of Punjab University, showing particular interest in diverse educational and research fields. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the academic partnership between Iran and Pakistan, paving the way for future collaborations and exchanges.
