Islamic University Islamabad; Clash Between Groups Claims A Life

Islamic University Islamabad continues to reel with shock, after witnessing a deadly clash between two parties on Thursday. The attack claimed one life, and left more than a dozen injured. Following the attack, a student is believed to have filed a FIR (First Information Report) with the Sabzi Mandi police station.

The complaint registered Friday morning, invokes several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code  including, Section 302 for premeditated murder, 324 for attempt to murder, 148 pertaining to rioting, armed with deadly weapon and 149 against every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object.

As per sources, a peaceful function was underway when the members of  of IJT’s (Islami Jamiat Talaba) opposing group entered the hall and started firing blindly. This led to a clash in which a student now identified as Syed Tufail unfortunately, lost his life.

In a series of tweets the DC Islamabad, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat has confirmed that 16 students have been arrested following a thorough search operation, conducted by the police department at the University hostels. The Rangers, Police and Magistrates were all called in to curb any possible skirmishes, stated the DC in his tweets.
