The one-member tribunal established on the directions of the Punjab government has completed its investigation into the sexual harassment scandal involving students at Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB). The tribunal has assigned responsibility for the incident to the DPO of Bahawalpur, the DSP, the Sub-Inspector, and the well-known anchor person Iqrar ul Hassan.

According to the report issued by the tribunal, the responsibility for the incident was imposed on DPO Bahawalpur Syed Muhammad Abbas, DSP Jamshed, and Sub-Inspector Ramzan. The tribunal also held anchor person Iqrar ul Hassan accountable for the incident.

The tribunal, led by Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar, sent a 3,000-page report to the Punjab government, which indicated that no evidence of sexual harassment of students was found at Islamia University Bahawalpur.

The report stated that no evidence was found of drug use or trafficking within the university. The police imposed allegations of sexual harassment and drug use without investigation or evidence, attempting to tarnish the reputation of the university.

It was further noted in the report that unsubstantiated news on social media also damaged the university’s reputation, putting the dignity and honor of the students at risk.

It should be noted that a few months ago, a sexual harassment scandal involving students at Islamia University Bahawalpur came to light, leading the Punjab government to establish an investigative committee. The committee has completed its investigation and issued a 3,000-page report.
