IUB Fosters Industry Partners, Professor Bags Fellowship

A delegation representing the software industry from the United Kingdom and Bahawalpur recently graced the Faculty of Computing at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) with their presence. The esteemed delegation included Mr. Hassan Khalid, Founder & CEO of Cloudini from the UK, Mr. Tauqeer Ahmad, Founder & CEO of Enigmatix from Bahawalpur, Mr. Saad Bin Abid, CTO of Enigmatix, Mr. Muhammad Nabeel Khan, Head of Global Strategy, Planning and Partnerships at Enigmatix, Mr. Moiz Ali, CEO of Enigmatix, along with Ms. Aasma Moiz Ali and Mr. Mujahid Rasool, Co-founder of WebXmeta. Welcoming the delegates alongside faculty members was Prof. Dr. Dost Muhammad Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Computing.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce the delegation to the research projects housed within the SAFE-RH LAB and to explore avenues for academic collaboration, knowledge exchange, and mutual cooperation in various fields including Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and related disciplines. The delegates showed a keen interest in fostering ties that could lead to fruitful partnerships.

In addition to their visit to the Faculty of Computing, the guests also had the opportunity to explore the Hakra Art Gallery and take a campus tour, further enriching their experience of the university.

In another notable development, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Hasan Abbasi, Director of the Institute of Agro Industry and Environment at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, was honored with the Charles Wallace Fellowship by the British Council, Pakistan. As part of this fellowship, Prof. Dr. Abbasi embarked on a two-week visit to the University of Birmingham in the UK, where he delved into cooperation opportunities in the realm of environmental studies and water purification.

During his visit, Prof. Dr. Abbasi shared insights from his work, which included surveys and experiments aimed at tackling water insecurity in remote areas of Pakistan. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, and the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, expressed their gratitude to the British Council for facilitating this valuable opportunity for academic exchange and research collaboration.
