IUB organizes seminar on Media Laws and Ethics

The Directorate of Community Broadcast Radio, TV & Film and Department of Law Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) organized a one-day informative seminar on Media Laws and Ethics. Senior Judges of Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem, Justice Jawad Hassan, Justice Anwar Ul Haq Pinnu and District and Sessions Judge Amir Mohammad Khan guided the students and teachers in the field of Journalism Laws.

The ceremony was inaugurated by Professor Dr Muhammad Shehzad Rana, the purpose of the seminar was to educate the students of Media Studies and Law about the Laws of Media Laws and Ethics so that the young generation can fulfill their duties in practical life by knowing the rules and regulations. Prof Dr Rao Imran Habib, Chairman, the Department of Law, IUB, in his introductory address highlighted the aims, objectives and importance of the seminar.

Senior Judge Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench Bahawalpur Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem stressed the need for students to develop reading habits and communication skills. His Excellency Justice Jawad Hassan, who is an authority on Media and the Mass Communication Laws in Pakistan, said that familiarity with the laws of his department helps us in carrying out our professional duties. Justice Anwar Ul Haq Pinnu and District and Sessions Judge Amir Mohammad Khan delivered keynote addresses on the occasion. Ali Hassan Rizvi, Lecturer in the Department of Media Studies, spoke on the implementation of journalistic laws.

Prof Dr Naveed Akhtar, Pro Vice Chancellor, thanked the distinguished guests and said that the arrival of senior judges in the university and sharing of experiences has in fact led to an increase in the knowledge of students and faculty. He thanked the distinguished guests on behalf of Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and welcomed the liaison between the judiciary and educational institutions.
