The universities play a key role in identifying social issues. They also shape individual’s character and provide them with new perspectives to achieve their goals. As universities are a reflection of society, the direct effect of society is also visible in the universities. These views were expressed by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi on Wednesday. He was talking to the 18-member delegations of Jamia-tul-Uloom-il-Islamia, Mansoorah Hala, District Matiari, Sindh at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat.

While talking to the students, he advised that they should set goals in life and must have the ability to complete the task with confidence and should have good command over communication skills, and must know about the use of the latest tools and technologies.

“If you do not know the purpose of your life then your confidence will also shake while taking any decision or even talking to other people.” The KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi insists that we should become practical Muslims as it is essential for success in this world and the hereafter. He believes that it would help us in finding solutions to our problems as well as eradicating the west’s propaganda against Islam.

He shared that justice cannot prevail in a society without accountability and it should be done without any discrimination. A society that uses different scales to deliver justice can never prosper.

Earlier, the delegation met the Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Professor Dr Nasreen Aslam Shah. During the meeting, the delegation was briefed about the ongoing teaching and research activities at the University of Karachi, especially in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She advised the visitors that we need to work hard and should help others in our life.

Later, the delegation visited various departments of the University of Karachi. The delegation will visit various universities and other institutions in Karachi during its three-day educational visit.
