JSMU and NICH sign MoU for subsidized rate of test

Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) and the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a subsidized rate of test from the JSMU diagnostic lab.

Jinnah Sindh Medical University’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Amjad Siraj Memon paid a visit to the National Institute of Child Health, the largest childcare hospital in Pakistan. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the two institutions and discuss collaborative efforts in promoting pediatric healthcare and research.

Prof Nasir Saleem Saddal, Executive Director of NICH, along with the senior faculty, warmly welcomed Dr Amjad Siraj Memon as the chief guest. The event commenced with a welcome speech by Prof Dr Mashal Khan, Chairperson of Pediatrics.

Prof Nasir Saleem Saddal delivered a comprehensive presentation on NICH. Prof Nasir Saleem Saddal’s presentation shed light on the hospital’s achievements in advancing medical research and its aspirations for future growth.

In his keynote speech, Prof Amjad Siraj Memon expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed his admiration for the doctors and faculty members at NICH. He further emphasized the significance of promoting NICH’s work through various media platforms to raise awareness and garner support from the public.

He assured the faculty of his complete backing on research projects and suggested the establishment of crucial departments, including the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Research Department, Media Cell, Professional Development Center, and Legal Department, to enhance the hospital’s capabilities.

During the event the MoU was signed by JSMU Registrar Dr Azam Khan and NICH Executive Director Prof Nasir Saleem Saddal in the presence of worthy Vice-Chancellor and senior officials from both institutions.

Under the MoU, JSMU lab will provide 40% discount to NICH on all routine tests and 30% discount on all special tests. This will help to reduce the financial burden on NICH and ensure that it has access to quality healthcare services.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr Azam Khan said that the MoU was a testament to the strong collaboration between JSMU and NICH. JSMU Lab has been providing test facilities per international standards, ensuring accuracy and affordable charges for patients.

JSMU Lab Manager Hasnain Abbas said that Jinnah Sindh Medical University Diagnostic Laboratory and Blood Bank retained its ISO certification 9001:2015 for 2021-2024 by the International Organization of Standardization.

Concluding the event, Prof Mohsina Noor Ibrahim delivered a vote of thanks. As a gesture of appreciation, Prof Nasir Saleem Saddal presented a memento to the esteemed Chief Guest, symbolizing the bond between Jinnah Sindh Medical University and the National Institute of Child Health.

The event was attended by all faculty members of NICH, and Mr Usman Ghori, Incharge JSMU-NICH Coordination Cell, who also contributed to the success of this notable visit.
