JSMU observes Yom e Takreem e Shuhada e Pakistan

Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) observed Yom e Takreem e Shuhada e Pakistan. Mr Qasim Siraj Soomro, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, was the Chief Guest of the event. A walk and rally from the main gate of Askari 3 to the main gate of JSMU was organized under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Amjad Siraj Memon to show solidarity with the martyrs of Pakistan.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Saadia Akram, Registrar Dr Azam khan, Professor Tariq Mehmood, Deans, Principals, Head of the departments, all faculty members and thousands of students were also present in the walk. The participants held placards and banners with messages of solidarity and support for the martyrs of Pakistan. They also chanted slogans in favor of the country.

After the walk, a program was held in the lecture hall of JSMU. The student council presented a play on Case no 335139 Sepoy Maqbool Hussain. The play was well-received by the audience.

In his speech, VC Prof Amjad Siraj Memon said, “We got freedom after great sacrifices. We have to protect this freedom. It is our duty to respect and protect the honor of those who stay guarding the borders at night and we sleep comfortably here in our homes.” He further said, “People may have different political views, but if they are against the country, we will not tolerate it.”

Mr Qasim Siraj Soomro, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh, said, “The desecration of the martyrs of Pakistan is like tearing the hearts of mothers who sacrificed their beloved sons for this motherland. The basic principles of our faith, national security should not be compromised.” He advised the youth to exercise their right to vote thoughtfully.

Professor Tariq Mehmood said, “Whilst we may have different political thoughts, we must not criticize the country’s security agencies. It is condemnable to desecrate the monuments of martyrs of Pakistan and criticize the country.”

Registrar Dr Azam Khan also emphasized on respecting the martyrs of Pakistan. At the end, Additional Director affiliated colleges Dr Rahat Naz delivered vote of thanks. Assistant Professor Dr Nazish Jaffer was the host of the event.

The event was a success and it showed the solidarity of the people of Pakistan with the martyrs of the country.
