Karachi Colleges Banned from Accepting Cash Payments

The Directorate of Colleges Education for the Karachi Region has officially banned all colleges in the city from accepting cash payments from students.

A notification issued by Regional Director Faqir Muhammad Lakho instructs college principals to ensure that no cash fees are collected at student service counters. Instead, all payments must be deposited directly into the designated college bank accounts. Principals have also been tasked with overseeing daily operations at student counters to enforce this policy.

The notification warns that any irregularities in cash fee collection will hold the respective college principal solely accountable.

This decision comes after a recent incident at Government College for Women Nazimabad and Jinnah College Nazimabad, where staff members misappropriated examination fees meant for associate degree students. As a result, 250 students were unable to receive their admit cards on time.

To address the issue, Dr Zafar, Controller of Examinations at the University of Karachi (UoK), took emergency steps to issue admit cards to the affected students. Meanwhile, the college principal lodged an FIR against those responsible for the misappropriation.
