Leading figures from the education, technology, and business sectors have come together to introduce Khan Academy, a global leader in free online learning, to Pakistan. Their goal is to provide free, high-quality education using cutting-edge AI technology.

As part of the launch, KAP introduced ‘Khanmigo,’ an AI-powered online tutor aimed at helping teachers improve efficiency and enabling students to learn more effectively.
Zeeshan Hasan, CEO of KAP, described the event as the start of a new era in education, offering world-class content. He highlighted Pakistan’s educational challenges, such as high dropout rates and limited infrastructure, and emphasized that KAP’s mission is to use technology to provide high-quality education for all. KAP plans to work with both public and private schools to broaden access to education.
KAP will begin a pilot program early next year, starting with teachers before expanding to students. The initiative focuses on providing content tailored to Pakistan’s curriculum in Urdu and regional languages, empowering teachers with tools and training, and maximizing the reach of Khanmigo to students across the country.
Hasan noted partnerships with organizations like AKHUWAT, CARE Foundation, and the Aga Khan University, among others. Further collaborations with private school networks are planned for the 2025 student pilot.
Osman Rashid, Chairperson of KAP, stated that Khan Academy Pakistan represents a commitment to the future of Pakistan’s children. By integrating AI and localized content, KAP aims to transform the country’s educational landscape, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has access to quality learning.
Sal Khan, founder of Khan Academy, expressed his excitement in a video message, emphasizing that AI will help tackle the unique challenges faced by Pakistan’s students and teachers.
Khan Academy, founded in 2008, is renowned for its free educational resources, especially in math and science. Its latest innovation, Khanmigo, builds on this legacy by using AI to offer personalized tutoring for students and valuable tools for teachers.
KAP is supported by a board of leading educationalists, entrepreneurs, and business leaders, including Osman Rashid, Naeem Zamindar, Amin Hashwani, and others. Funded by Pakistanis from around the world, KAP seeks to address Pakistan’s educational needs through innovative AI solutions and localized content.
