Khushhali Fellowship at GCUF Empowers Women & Minorities

The Khushhali Fellowship Program continues to pave the way for success and empowerment for underprivileged women and minority communities. In a significant milestone, twenty-eight (28) young women and female children successfully completed an intensive two-month teacher training workshop at Government College University, Faisalabad (GCUF). The training provided hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information Technology (IT), equipping participants with modern skills for a brighter future.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor of GCUF, Prof Dr Rauf-I-Azam, emphasized the importance of empowering women and marginalized communities. “Empowering women is not just about equality; it is about building a sustainable and prosperous future for all. Providing equal opportunities in science and technology for underprivileged communities is crucial. By investing in modern skills, we are laying the foundation for an inclusive and progressive society,” he said.

Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to the rights and welfare of minority communities. “Equal opportunities in education, healthcare, justice, and economic sectors are our top priority,” he stated.

Speaking at the event, Canadian High Commission Secretary, Fenny Hem, praised the initiative, stating, “The Khushhali Fellowship Program is creating an inclusive academic and professional environment for minorities.”

Dr Sofia Anwar highlighted the transformative impact of the program. “This initiative is a crucial step toward integrating women and minorities into the national mainstream. We must continue investing in such efforts to build a more inclusive Pakistan,” she said.

The program was organized by the Department of Economics, GCUF, and the Centre for Law and Justice (CLJ), with special contributions from Asif Aqeel and Mary James Gill from the Centre for Law and Justice. The ceremony was graced by Pro-Vice Chancellor of GCUF, Prof Dr Nasir Amin, and Dr Najma Afzal, former parliamentarian.

This marks the second batch of Khushhali Fellows, following the successful graduation of the first batch from FC College, Lahore. The program has also provided dedicated support to children and families from Jaranwala, who faced hardships last year, helping them move towards a more secure and prosperous future.

The Khushhali Fellowship Program stands as a beacon of hope and progress, demonstrating the power of education and skill development in transforming lives and communities.
