KP Chief Minister Unveils Free Laptop Scheme for Students

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has unveiled a new initiative to provide free laptops to students across the province, promising to match the distribution percentage of Punjab’s similar program.

“If Punjab allocates laptops to a certain percentage of students, we will ensure the same for our students,” Gandapur declared.

In a call for reciprocity, he urged Punjab’s government to adopt a free health insurance scheme akin to KP’s Sehat Card Plus, which covers the entire population and now includes life insurance. “We have set a benchmark in healthcare, and Punjab should follow suit,” he emphasized.

Gandapur also highlighted KP’s impressive financial achievements, citing a 55% increase in provincial revenue despite economic challenges. In contrast, he noted Punjab’s revenue growth at just 12%. “They should aim higher, like us,” he remarked.

On fiscal responsibility, the chief minister revealed that KP had achieved a budget surplus of Rs176 billion, making it the only province to meet IMF targets. He criticized Punjab for falling short, pointing out its Rs146 billion deficit against an IMF surplus target of Rs300 billion.

Additionally, Gandapur announced a financial aid program for underprivileged brides, pledging Rs200,000 each for the weddings of 4,000 deserving girls.

Taking a swipe at Punjab’s governance, he challenged its leadership to a debate, asserting, “Their performance doesn’t even come close to 1% of what we’ve achieved.”
