While introducing digital procedure of admissions in M.Phil and Ph.D. programs under the Enterprise Resource Planning system, the administration of Karachi University has added an option for transgender community on the portal.

The system has been developed under the supervision of Dr. Imran Siddiqui, of the Department of Physics. According to the KU spokesperson, awarding admissions through ERP would bring transparency in the admission process while candidates would be able to check the status of their admission applications from anywhere. They would no longer visit various departments and offices located at distance on the campus.

For the academic year 2021, the candidates would apply for admission in M.Phil, Ph.D. Master of Medicine, Master of Surgery, and L.L. M programs through ERP by this month. The aspirants will receive a confirmation message via SMS, email, and WhatsApp after submitting the admission forms.

Digitizing academic and administrative affairs, the teachers and staffers will get realtime information. They will also be able to know about the financial issues at homes while students would be able to pay fees through Credit Card, Debit Card and Visa Card using the ERP.

In addition, parents of the students will be able to check the performance of their children students, attendance, academic performance, and payment of fees. While talking about the ERP, the KU Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi said that the system was indispensable for establishing ERP for the varsity. It would help the teachers, staffers, and students. “We wanted to develop the varsity on modern lines and bring it to the international level under this system where modern facilities were made available to the students. The main purpose of this system is to save the time of students and parents and to minimize the financial burden.

He said that more than 45000 students are enrolled in the university while there are more than 150,000 students in the affiliated colleges of the city. This is why the varsity developed ERP to provide timely information to all the students.
