The Karachi University Teachers Society in its statement issued on Monday said that all universities across Sindh, including Karachi University, should be reopened immediately.
“Under the guise of Karuna, the Sindh government is destroying the education system”, KTUS President Prof. Dr. Shah Ali Ul Qadir said, added that political and religious gathering are allowed while markets and businesses are open as usual. However, educational institutions have been closed in the name of Covid-19.
“It seems that Covid-19 is waiting for the reopening of educational institutions to spread the epidemic,” he said, added; “Online education system has so far been a failed experiment in specific circumstances of Pakistan and the government has no plan to provide resources for online education.
He demanded that the universities during the outbreak of Covid19 were facing serious financial crunch. Therefore, the provincial government should immediately provide relief package to the universities so that this serious deficit could be met.
