Karachi University Teachers Society has demanded the provincial government to make sure the safety of the academic community.
A statement issued after the killing of Usman Institute of Technology Director Prof. Dr. Zahir Ali Syed, KUTS President Dr. Shah Ali Ul Qader that Dr. Syed’s killing proves that law enforcement agencies have failed to maintain peace in the city.
On one hand, the government spends billions in the name of VIP culture and protocol for politicians. Police even block roads and stop traffic for them. But on the other hand, a professor was killed on the most important thoroughfare on which the National Cricket Stadium and the largest private hospitals are located while the offices of high-ranking police officers are also situated on the stadium road.
He expressed grave concern over the failure of law enforcement agencies. KUTS strongly protested against the incident and appealed to all educational institutions to observe Black Day on Monday.
Dr Qader demanded the Sindh government and LEAs arrest the killers. He also demanded financial compensation for Dr Syed’s family. We the KUTS and academic community of the province stand with grieved the family.
