Lahore varsity discourages indecent act on campus

LAHORE: The University of Lahore has expelled two students after a video of the girl proposing the boy went viral on social networking platforms.

A video went viral in which two students, Hadiqa Javaid and Sheheryar Ahmad, were seen holding bouquets and hugging each other.

In a statement issued, the university maintained that students were involved in gross misconduct and violation of university rules and both were asked to appear before the disciplinary committee but they did not appear.

The statement issued by the university reads, “They are debarred from entering the premises of University of Lahore and all its sub-campuses.”

As per Section-16 of the General Discipline Rules and Code of Conduct on the Campus, they are debarred from entering the premises of University of Lahore and all its sub-campuses. The UoL Registrar Mian Khalid Karim issued the university order.

The administration of University of Lahore, a leading educational institution of Pakistan, said that they respects and adhere to the cultural, social and religious norms of Pakistan. The varsity, therefore, strongly discourages any act, undertaken by the students that is not aligned with Pakistan’s publicly accepted social norms.

As per the University’s management their main goal is to provide a learning environment for students that focuses on learning and attainment of knowledge. The management firmly believes that discipline must be maintained in accordance with the cultural and religious values of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
