The Department of Gender & Development Studies, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), in collaboration with WaterAid and support of Vice-Chancellor LCWU Prof Dr Bushra Mirza, celebrated World toilet day on 21st November and launched the campaign of transforming washrooms at LCWU into model washrooms.
The main purpose of this event was to raise awareness about sanitation and hygiene and to promote inclusive toilets which can cater to the needs of all.
Dean of Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Afzal appreciated the efforts of WaterAid and Department of Gender and Department Studies for highlighting the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
Dr Uzma Ashiq, InCharge Gender and Development Studies, LCWU expressed her gratitude to all administration of LCWU, WaterAid for their support and collaboration in organizing this event.
Provincial coordinator of WaterAid Mr Farakat Ali, Ms. Saima Sadaf Gender Advisor and Ms Toheed Bibi MHM coordinator shared efforts of WaterAid to promote hygiene and sanitation.
In this event, students of Gender and Development Studies delivered speeches on the importance of hygiene and sanitation and presented their innovative ideas to promote this campaign by participating in a poster competition.
This event was attended by the senior faculty of LCWU, representatives from various NGOs and government departments.
