Lecture Series On Responsible Citizenry Begins At UO

A lecture series on “Inculcation of Responsible Citizenry and Vibrant Academic Culture” started at the University of Okara with the German Scholar Peter-Josef Boeck conducting interactive sessions with the students of all departments for a week.

The sessions, that started on Monday, will continue till February 18th. The event has been organized by the UO’s Director External Linkages Dr Syed Abdul Waheed.

This is Boeck’s second visit to the UO. He last visited the university for two weeks in February 2018.

In his welcome note at the start of the first session, Dr Waheed told, “Peter is a seasoned scholar and we are grateful to him for sparing time to come here and interact with our students. The purpose of these sessions is to train the students on how to behave like a responsible citizens and how to create a culture of academic freedom at the campus as per the vision of the Vice Chancellor.”

The Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, chairing a meeting of the faculty, introduced Boeck and requested him to inculcate the values like university stewardship and responsible citizenry among the students through formal and informal sessions.

 Boeck applauded the VC’s efforts to perk up the stature of the university through civil and academic infrastructure. He urged the faculty to contribute to their utmost to the well being of their institution by producing quality research and preparing students to face the challenges of the globalized world and modern job market.
