University of Management and Technology (UMT) hosted the honorable Mayor of Brampton, Canada, Patrick Brown for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and an exclusive talk. The MoU lays the foundation of commitment to mutual collaboration, knowledge exchange and joint initiatives.

A special flag hoisting ceremony was also conducted at the start of the event. MoU was signed by Dr Asif Raza and Mr Patrick Brown.

Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Minister LG&CD Punjab, and Member Board of Governors UMT/ILM Trust, Rector UMT Dr Asif Raza, Acting President UMT Lt Gen (R) Javed Hasan, DG UMT Prof Abid Shirwani, Registrar Saleem Ata, Asif Saeed Haider Director AAQIC and senior management of UMT were also present.

The Mayor of Brampton, Mr. Patrick Brown, engaged in a constructive discussion with Mr Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Minister LG&CD Punjab, and Member Board of Governors UMT/ILM Trust. The focus of the discussion was to explore areas of potential partnership and cooperation between Pakistan and Canada.

Rector UMT, Dr Asif Raza expressed his gratitude to the honorable Mr Patrick Brown and the esteemed delegation for sparing their valuable time. He emphasized the strong relationship between Pakistan and Canada, which is rooted in cultural ties and mutual respect. He also commended the leadership of the Canadian Prime Minister, highlighting his efforts to foster religious harmony and combat Islamophobia. Dr Asif Raza expressed his desire for a long-lasting and fruitful relationship between the two countries to promote research-based education.

Mr Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton, Canada, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the UMT management. He shared that there is a special bond between Pakistan and Canada, characterized by kindness and generosity. Mr Patrick emphasized the importance of education to counter misinformation, highlighting Canada’s belief that anything is possible with hard work and determination. He expressed Canada’s eagerness to welcome more friends from Pakistan and conveyed his enthusiasm to work closely with UMT and Pakistan. It would be great to work with institutes like UMT for joint ventures, says Patrick.

The Acting President UMT Lt Gen (R) Javed Hasan expressed his gratitude to Mr Patrick Brown and the members of the delegation for their visit. He said that we hope to expand ties for the mutual benefit of UMT and Canada.

At the end of the ceremony, Rector UMT Dr Asif Raza along with Acting President UMT Lt Gen (R) Javed Hasan presented a souvenir to Mr Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton, Canada.
