Punjab Minister Kicks Off Anti-Polio Campaign At PU

Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Hummayun Sarfraz has kicked off anti-polio campaign by giving polio drops to children at Punjab University (PU) Teaching Hospital.

PU Vice Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmad, Chief Medical Officer Dr Muhammad Akram, staff, parents and children were present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Mr Hummayun said that Pakistan must get rid of polio disease as it was our responsibility to safeguard the future of our children. He said that teachers and students should play their role to create awareness among the public at large for eradication of polio from our country. He said that it was very unfortunate that Pakistan was among those three countries having polio. However, he said, the government had firm resolve to wipe out polio from Pakistan in collaboration with civil society and soon our country would be polio free. He said that people should know that if one child carried polio virus, children in all countries had risk of contracting the disease. He said that we could defeat polio by collective efforts and every Pakistani should play role in this regard.
