In a significant development aimed at strengthening the education sector in Pakistan, Madad Ali Sindhi, the Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), held a crucial meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan Chamber of Education (PCE). The delegation, led by Mr. Haji Ashfaq Ahmed Warraich, President of PCE, discussed various challenges faced by the education system and proposed collaborative solutions.

Madad Ali Sindhi, expressing gratitude for the efforts of the Pakistan Chamber of Education, highlighted the pivotal role played by the organization in narrowing the gap between the government and the private education sector. He commended PCE for its contribution to reducing the number of Out of School Children, a commendable achievement for the education sector.

During the meeting, the Minister was apprised of the issue of unscheduled holidays in provinces, adversely affecting the academic calendar. The delegation emphasized the need for a revised academic year that considers the regional impacts of climate change. Notably, areas like Lahore and Gujranwala face challenges like smog, which should not lead to the closure of schools throughout the entire province.

Addressing the concern of varying academic days across provinces, PCE proposed a uniform approach to ensure fairness and consistency. The delegation also stressed the importance of teacher training and offered the services of the Pakistan Chamber of Education to support government initiatives in this regard.

One significant proposal put forth by PCE was the implementation of Public Private Partnership to reduce the number of Out of School Children. The delegation extended their services to the Federal Government, suggesting a collaborative effort to address this critical issue. Minister Madad Ali Sindhi appreciated the positive suggestions and assured that these proposals would be forwarded to the provinces for consideration in the upcoming Inter-Provincial Education Ministers’ Conference (IPEMC).

Madad Ali Sindhi emphasized the need for policies that cater to all private institutions, irrespective of their stature. He urged that policies should be inclusive and not discriminatory, addressing the unique challenges faced by both high-end and low-end private institutions.

The collaborative efforts between the Federal Ministry of Education and the Pakistan Chamber of Education signify a positive step towards fostering a more robust and inclusive education system in Pakistan. The outcomes of these discussions are anticipated to have a far-reaching impact on policies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education across the nation.
