In a landmark move under the Federal Government’s Educational Reforms Programme, computer and artificial intelligence (AI) classes have been introduced in 150 primary schools under the Federal Directorate of Education in Islamabad. Official sources stated that this strategic initiative is designed to prepare the youth for a rapidly digitalizing world, ensuring they are equipped to meet future challenges head-on.
“By integrating cutting-edge subjects like AI into the primary school curriculum, we are setting a precedent for digital literacy and innovation at the grassroots level,” commented a senior official from the Ministry of Education. “This effort will empower students to become creators of technology rather than mere consumers.”
Developed in consultation with leading technology firms, the curriculum is tailored to engage young learners effectively. It covers basic computer skills, an introduction to coding, and an understanding of AI concepts. Additionally, the program emphasizes the practical application of these skills, with a focus on critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
To support this ambitious educational upgrade, the government is investing in the necessary IT infrastructure in these schools. This includes equipping classrooms with modern computer labs, providing internet connectivity, and ensuring that students have access to the latest technological tools and resources.
The initiative also addresses the need for qualified educators by partnering with NUST to train computer instructors, ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver this innovative curriculum. This comprehensive approach will not only enhance the teaching experience but also inspire students to explore technology as a career path in the future.
Parents and educators have welcomed the move, expressing optimism about the opportunities it will open up for students. “It’s exciting to see our children getting access to such advanced learning at such a young age. This could shape their future in unimaginable ways,” said one parent, whose child is enrolled in the new program.
With this development, Islamabad is setting an example for other regions in Pakistan, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing digital education nationwide. The introduction of computer and AI classes marks a significant step forward in nurturing the next generation of tech innovators and leaders.
As these classes become operational, the Federal Government’s vision of a digitally literate youth, capable of driving the nation’s progress in technology and innovation, is one step closer to reality.
