LAHORE: Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry has been elected as the President of Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA) for the third time consecutively.

He is also Chairman, PU Department of Economics. Anwar scored 417 votes defeating Dr Mehboob Hussain who bagged 413 votes.
Punjab University Academic Staff Association held demonstrations in the past to protest against policies of Chairman Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Punjab government for not fulfilling promises made to the academic fraternity and for allegedly bringing down the standards of higher education in country.
