NCA Fails To Double Quota Of Students From Erstwhile FATA

LinkedIn

The National College of Arts (NCA) Lahore and Rawalpindi have again disregarded the directives of the federal cabinet to double the quota of students from former FATA regions.

According to details, NCA Lahore, which operates under the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, has only seats for students from erstwhile FATA, while NCA Rawalpindi has only six seats for the students belonging to the former tribal districts.

The federal cabinet had decided to double the seats for FATA students three years ago, according to which all the medical and engineering colleges of the country doubled the seats for students in the tribal belt. However, NCA has failed to follow the directives and comply with the orders of the government.

Classes of the new inductees at National College of Arts have commenced from January 20, but the quota of tribal students remains the same. Students belonging to the former tribal areas have raised the issue on the Citizen’s Portal many a times, but no action has been taken in this regard yet.

In its defense, NCA says that if the seats of tribal belt students are increased, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s allocation in the quota would exceed that of Sindh and become in violation of the seats distribution formula decided on the national level.
