NED University to establish UNESCO Chair “Sustainable Urban Regions”

According to the Nadirshaw Edulji Dinshaw University of Engineering and Technology (NEDUET) spokesperson; “It is a prestigious moment for NED University which has been granted to establish the UNESCO Chair “Sustainable Urban Regions”. The agreement was signed on 16th June at UNESCO headquarters in Paris in the presence of the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi; and the Chief of Section, Capacity Building in Science and Engineering, Ms Amal Kasry, and the Chief of Section, Science Policy and Partnerships Ezra Clark who both were representing the Director-General UNESCO Audrey Azoulay”.

At that auspicious moment, the Dean Faculty of Chemical & Processing Engineering, Prof Dr Asif Ahmed Shaikh; Deputy Director, Quality Enhancement Cell Dr Wasif Ahmed; Counsellor at Embassy of Pakistan, France and Deputy Permanent Delegate at UNESCO, Ms Huzefa Khanum; and Press Counsellor of Embassy of Pakistan, France Mr Danyal Saleem Gilani were also present.

The NED university has nominated one of the Renowned architect and planner, Prof Dr Noman Ahmed as the chairholder for UNESCO Chair. The chair will work in collaboration with several national private and public sector universities, international universities, Public & Private sector organizations and industries to attain the SDG#11 in particular and allied SDGs in general. Under this several workshops, conferences, seminars, dialogues and capacity development programs would be launched to train students, faculty members and professionals of the allied industries.
