NEDUET Senate approves Rs 3,351.138 million budget

The NED University of Engineering and Technology in its 29th Senate meeting held on Saturday approved a budget of Rs.3351.138 million for the fiscal year 2021-22.

The meeting was chaired by the Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Universities and Boards Nisar Khuhro while around 84 NED Senate members participated. However, two members remained absent.

While briefing the members, the NEDUET VC Prof Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi said that the budget for the Fiscal Year 2020-21 was started with a deficit of Rs 167.695 million. But the varsity ended FY 2020-21 with a surplus budget of Rs 2.207 million.

For the FY 2021-22 presenting a budget of Rs 3351.138 million with an estimated deficit of Rs 167.695 million, the VC said the NED University has always given priority to development projects and promotion of research activities. “We have started around 183 research projects. At present, as many as 23 state-of-the-art research centers have been established. Likewise, the varsity has produced 450 research papers in international publications”.

On the occasion, Nisar Khuhro said that commencing civil engineering classes at the NED’s Thar Institute of Engineering, Sciences & Technology was a commendable task. Now the student of the Thar region will also get access to quality engineering education at their doorstep.

He said that the growing quality of NED and its graduate engineers is an example to the world. The provincial government has been supporting NED and will continue to do so in the future.
