Pakistan and Kazakhstan emphasized the importance of boosting collaboration in education, particularly in medical and dental fields, as well as the mutual recognition of medical degrees, during a meeting on Thursday. The discussions took place when Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, visited the headquarters of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). He was warmly received by PMDC President Professor Dr Rizwan Taj.
The ambassador’s visit aimed to strengthen bilateral ties in medical education and healthcare. Both sides highlighted the significance of academic partnerships, student exchange programs, and the mutual recognition of medical qualifications. Ambassador Kistafin praised Pakistan’s progress in medical education and expressed Kazakhstan’s desire to foster closer cooperation in this sector.
Dr Rizwan Taj reaffirmed PMDC’s dedication to building international collaborations and underscored the council’s role in maintaining high standards of medical education and professionalism in Pakistan. The two parties agreed to explore opportunities for joint efforts in medical research, faculty exchanges, and capacity-building projects.
Dr Taj noted that Pakistan does not face a shortage of doctors but advised Kazakhstan to focus on improving its medical and dental education standards to address its own needs. In response, Ambassador Kistafin assured that Kazakhstan is committed to upgrading its medical education system, including establishing high-quality medical and dental colleges. He also pledged to keep PMDC updated on new developments and innovations in the medical field, as well as the establishment of new medical institutions in Kazakhstan.
