Parliamentary Secretary P&D NA Kanwal Shauzab visits IUB

Bahawalpur: Federal Parliamentary Secretary Planning and Development and Member National Assembly Kanwal Shauzab has visited Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) here on Tuesday.

She called upon Vice Chancellor IUB Dr Athar Mahboob who briefed her on the achievements made by IUB.

While addressing the briefing session, Kanwal Shauzab said that the government of Pakistan is providing all resources for the development of higher education sector according to vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The role of the higher education sector is crucial in making Pakistan an important player globally. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur due to an extraordinary increase in the number of departments and students and faculty in the last two years has become one of the 1000 best universities in the world.

She expressed that the federal government has approved a mega development project worth Rs. 4 billion for the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. She said that establishment of University Campus at Ahmadpur East would be of key importance in the social and economic development of the region. The Member National Assembly welcomed the resettlement plan of Cholistan through artificial rain and said that this project could not only bring prosperity to thousands of Cholistanis but also play an important role in reviving the agro-economy.

She said that establishment of a nursing college in the university would open the door of employment for the local youth in this most important field and a nursing college would also be set up in Ahmedpur East Campus. She also appreciated the performance of the IT division. Later, Federal Parliamentary Secretary Kanwal Shauzab accompanied by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob paid a detailed visit to Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus and reviewed the construction activities, solar park and other projects under Public Private Partnership.
