Patriotic Zeal at UHE campus on Independence Day

On the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of Pakistan’s Independence Day, grand celebrations were organized at the University of Home Economics (UHE), Lahore followed by a ceremony marked by a colorful flag hoisting ceremony, cake-cutting and quiz contests among students.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen along with registrar Shujaat Muneef Qureshi and academic heads hoisted the national flag at the academic block while students and staff were in attendance. The ceremony started with the hoisting of the flag in which Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Amin, Registrar Shujaat Manif Qureshi, Director Academics Tahir Ilyas, President Alumni Association Dr Rafia Tahir, teachers, employees, students and a large number of children participated with enthusiasm.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof Ameen said that in our Independence Day celebrations, we should not forget the struggle, and sacrifices of our ancestors. Kanwal Ameen said that the guiding principles of faith, unity and discipline given by founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, need to be followed for the development of Pakistan. She said that every Pakistani citizen should play role in the development of the country.

On the occasion of Independence Day, quiz competitions based on Tehreek Pakistan were organized among the students of UHE while the students also presented national songs. Later, Vice Chancellor Dr Kanwal Amin visited Mazar-i-Iqbal, along with the delegation, floral wreath was placed on Mazar-i-Iqbal and the Vice-Chancellor paid tribute to Allama Iqbal in an impression book.
