ISLAMABAD: Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has launched an online android application for school registration in a bid to promote education.

Private schools can apply and complete their registration with the new android application. PEIRA chairperson Zia Batool said the federal government will also provide 0.5 million loan to support private schools recover from COVID-19 financial losses.

The Ministry of Professional and Technical Training appointed Zia Batool as the permanent chairperson of the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority for three years with handsome MP-II salary and fringe benefits in 2019. Zia Batool was earlier working as the Punjab Higher Education’s director-general.

It is pertinent to note that PEIRA has been functional since 2006 to regulate, certify and register Private Educational Institutions (PEIs) in Islamabad Capital Territory for the purpose of ensuring quality, transparency and discipline.

PEIRA’s mandate includes determination, maintenance and improvement of standards in private sector educational setups.

As stated in Section 5 of Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions (Registration and Regulation) Act 2013, all private sector educational institutions operating in the jurisdiction of Islamabad Capital Territory (upto higher secondary level or equivalent) are required by law to get themselves registered with PEIRA
