This year’s theme, “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,” highlights the global trend of integrating AI into education to enhance learning for students and teachers. AI is being used to automate tasks, provide instant feedback, and create personalized learning experiences.

“As AI-driven systems become more ingrained in our lives, the lines between human effort and machine-driven actions are becoming less distinct,” Sharif noted in a statement. “This presents both opportunities and challenges, urging us to ensure human agency is preserved and strengthened amid rising automation.”

The Prime Minister reiterated the transformative role of education in equipping Pakistan’s youth with critical thinking, innovation, and ethical responsibility to navigate and shape technological advancements. “Our aim is to empower citizens not just to adapt to technological changes but to influence them in ways that uphold our values, protect freedoms, and drive societal progress,” he said.

Highlighting efforts to modernize education in Pakistan, Sharif pointed to initiatives such as High-Impact IT Labs in ICT degree colleges, Digital Hubs in rural schools, the Google Center of Excellence, SMART Classrooms, and the E-Taleem Portal for blended learning. Other projects include E-Rozgar Centers, Software Technology Parks, Robotics and Mind Games programs, and STEAM Labs, all designed to promote innovation and equip students with essential skills.

“On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to building an education system that embraces the promise of AI while preserving the core of human creativity, compassion, and purpose,” the Prime Minister concluded.
