Punjab Minister for School Education Murad Raas has said the department was receiving complaints against fee issue in private schools on a daily basis, and private schools have been given a deadline of February 12 to make necessary amendments in the fee structure.

Talking to newsmen outside the Punjab Assembly, Raas said schools that do not comply with orders regarding reduction/adjustment in fees will have their registrations cancelled.

The minister said as many as 7,500 teachers were needed to move forward with the agenda of promotion of education in School Education Department. “The excess fee amount will be returned to parents according to court orders. Aggrieved parents should contact the SED at 0336-7251214 if excess fee amount is not returned to them by the schools,” he added.

Raas said private schools should follow the decision maximum by February 12 otherwise legal action would be initiated. He said draft of a regulatory authority was under-consideration by the Law Department. “This regulatory authority will deal with the issues of private schools in the province. This draft will be presented before the assembly for approval in its next session,” he added.

The minister said a state-of-the-art software programme had been designed to bring all the relevant departmental information at one place and the required data would be available at a single click. “This will also help in policy formulation, decision making and posting/transfer. Similarly, other issues will also be properly dealt with by the department by utilizing this IT intervention,” Raas added.
