Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Dean Faculty of Geo Sciences at the University of Punjab (PU), has been appointed as the third Vice Chancellor of the University of Okara (UoO).

Prof Rashid earned his PhD degree from the University of Windsor, Canada and served in various high-profile academic and administrative positions at the PU including Controller of Examinations, Resident Officer, Director Student Affairs and Member Syndicate. He has numerous national and international awards and research accomplishments to his credit.

While talking to a meeting of faculty and administrative staff upon his first day at Okara University, the VC applauded the contributions of the former VCs including Prof Dr Zakria Zakar and Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid for uplifting the academic infrastructure of the university and vowed to perpetuate their policies during his tenure.

He also declared work to perk up the ranking of the university and strengthen the culture of applied research in order to provide solutions to various social and economic challenges in the country.

Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar congratulated Prof Dr Sajid Rashid for his appointment and offered best wishes. President Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA) Dr Azhar Naeem also congratulated Dr Sajid.
