In a significant stride towards advancing psychological research and knowledge dissemination, Punjab University (PU) and the Psychological Research Wing of the Pakistan Army have sealed a collaborative agreement. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony, held in the committee room of the Vice-Chancellor’s office, marked the formalization of this partnership on Friday.

Dignitaries from both institutions graced the occasion, including PU’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Brig Dr Imtiaz representing the Chief Psychologist of Psychological Research Wing, PA Directorate GHQ, and eminent psychologists such as PU’s Director of the Institute of Applied Psychology, Dr Rafia Rafiq, Dr Fatima, and Dr Afifah.

The agreement outlines various collaborative initiatives aimed at fostering research, education, and outreach in the field of psychology. One of the primary objectives is to jointly organize seminars and conferences focusing on diverse psychological topics. By leveraging the expertise and resources from both Punjab University and the Psychological Research Wing, these events aspire to delve into pertinent issues, share insights, and foster interdisciplinary dialogues.

This collaboration signifies a concerted effort to harness collective knowledge and experience in addressing contemporary psychological challenges. It underscores the recognition of psychology’s pivotal role in understanding human behavior, enhancing mental health services, and contributing to societal well-being.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood emphasized the significance of partnerships in academia and beyond, stating, “This collaboration embodies our commitment to advancing psychological research and fostering academic synergies. By joining forces with the Psychological Research Wing of Pakistan Army, we aim to broaden the horizons of psychological inquiry and make meaningful contributions to society.”

Brig Dr Imtiaz echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in tackling complex psychological phenomena. “Through this partnership, we seek to harness the collective expertise and resources of academia and the military to address pressing psychological challenges facing our nation,” he remarked.
