Punjab University (PU) and Pakistan Navy War College (PNWC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote joint research projects and organize several academic activities.
In this regard, the signing ceremony of the MoU was held in the committee room of the Punjab University Vice-Chancellor’s office here on Monday. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Commandant PN War College Maritime Centre of Excellence, Lahore Rear Admiral Javaid Iqbal, Deputy Commandant, Commodore Ehsan Ahmed, PU Director External Linkages Dr Sobia Khurram and others were present.
According to the agreement, the parties will promote joint research projects and start short courses. PU and PNWC will jointly organize seminars, conferences and exchange delegations of teachers and researchers. In his address, Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar said that the role of the Navy was important in making national defence impregnable. He said that the martyrs of the Navy kept Pakistan safe from enemies by giving sacrifices.
PU students win various competitions
Punjab University students Syed Aayzaz Haider Gilani and Syed Kamal Ahmad lifted the team trophy in the All Pakistan Irshaad Bilingual Declamation Contest at Jamia-tur-Rasheed (JTR), Karachi. According to details, Syed Kamal Ahmad from Punjab University Law College (PULC) was given Best Speaker award in the Urdu category while Syed Aayzaz Haider Gilani from Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS) got 2nd Best Speaker award in the English category. More than 100 speakers participated in the contest from all the provinces.
Meanwhile, students including Rohail Asghar from School of Communication Studies clinched 1st position, Ayesha Rasheed from College of Pharmacy stood in 2nd position in the Eastern Category and Faraz Nthe aseem from Institute of Biochemistry & Biotechnology also got 2nd position in the Instruthe mental Category in the All Pakistan LUMS Music Fest ’23 at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
Similarly, Faiza Rasool from Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre got 1st position in All Punjab Intervarsity Qiraat Competition 2023 at University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore.
