PU and Pink Ribbon Join Forces to Combat Breast Cancer

In a significant step towards advancing healthcare collaboration, Punjab University (PU) Lahore’s Center of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) and the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital, Pink Ribbon Pakistan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation in the field of health. The signing ceremony took place at the office of Punjab University Vice Chancellor (VC) on Friday.

The event was attended by esteemed figures, including Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Director of CEMB Dr Moazur Rahman, and CEO of Pink Ribbon Pakistan Omer Aftab, among others.

Under the terms of the MoU, both institutions will collaborate on co-marketing initiatives and will work together to enhance breast cancer awareness through joint seminars with clinicians and oncologists. These seminars aim to highlight a cost-effective and time-saving diagnostic test, which could be a significant breakthrough for early detection and treatment of breast cancer in Pakistan.

Furthermore, the partnership will focus on providing genetic counseling to breast cancer patients and their families, offering them crucial support and information. This initiative is expected to play a vital role in helping individuals understand their genetic risks and make informed decisions about their health.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, “This MoU represents a major step forward for both institutions. We are confident that this partnership will yield fruitful results and make a significant impact on public health in Pakistan.”

The collaboration between CEMB and Pink Ribbon Pakistan is poised to be a pioneering effort in the fight against breast cancer, providing valuable resources and support to those affected by the disease while promoting awareness and education across the country.
