In a separate event at Punjab University’s Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (ICET), faculty members engaged in a seminar focused on “Implementation and Assessment of Outcome Based Education (OBE).” This seminar, an integral part of ongoing faculty training, aimed to align the engineering education curriculum with the stringent standards set by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), ensuring global competitiveness for graduates.

Dr. Fahad Rehman, an Associate Professor at COMSATS and esteemed ICET alumni, delivered key insights into the OBE system. His comprehensive presentation covered critical topics such as defining Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs), aligning them with Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), assessing learning levels and domains, designing effective evaluation rubrics, tackling Complex Engineering Problems (CEP), incorporating Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and meeting PEC’s rigorous evaluation criteria.

The seminar, graced by distinguished figures including Punjab University’s Dean of Faculty of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Khan Durrani, ICET Director Prof. Dr. Rafi Ullah Khan, and PEC-AC Convener Dr. Ayyaz Muhammad, underscored the importance of continuous improvement in engineering education. Dr. Fahad Rehman’s expertise left attendees equipped with a deeper understanding of implementing OBE principles, ensuring the production of high-quality, globally competitive chemical engineering professionals.
