In his address, Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood emphasized the benefits these new health facilities will bring to the university community, including teachers, employees, and students. He highlighted the provision of emergency services even during evening hours, thanks to the new mobile medical unit, which functions as a mini-hospital equipped with first aid facilities. An ambulance service has also been established to facilitate the transfer of patients to hospitals when needed.

Prof Dr Mahmood elaborated on the new medicine delivery van service, which will ensure that medicines are delivered directly to the homes of teachers and employees. He noted that, in collaboration with the Health Department of the Government of Punjab, a free immunization program has been introduced, offering valuable vaccines for children at the Mother & Child Center.

Additionally, the university is set to launch an online appointment system and a service for re-writing prescriptions by phone. Prof Dr Mahmood assured that the availability and supply of medicines are being maintained at 100%. He praised the efforts of Chief Medical Officer Dr Muhammad Akram, Prof Dr Zeeshan Danish, and their team for their dedicated work in realizing these initiatives.

Dr Muhammad Akram remarked on the historic significance of these developments, attributing the success to the leadership of VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood. He acknowledged the constraints of limited resources but expressed pride in the Health Center’s ability to provide top-notch public health services to the university community.

Prof Dr Zeeshan Danish also lauded the efforts of the dedicated team of PU professionals who worked tirelessly to complete these projects within a few months. He mentioned that the Health Center is still in the process of completing its machinery and staffing requirements to offer the best possible modern healthcare facilities.

These new healthcare services represent a major advancement in Punjab University’s commitment to the well-being of its community, ensuring that comprehensive and accessible medical care is available to all.
